Happy Ramadan everyone! The Muslim month of fasting begins this weekend (Saturday in much of the Arab world, Sunday in Pakistan), and marks a time for reflection, self-discipline, and patience. On a lighter note, below is the link to a classic clip from Family Guy, poking fun at Osama bin Laden’s message to the West prior to Ramadan, and what really goes on behind that camera. Enjoy and Ramazan Mubarak!

Well interesting article. I was not aware of this being a crisis in Pakistan as well. I ignored the Ramadan also contributing to the crisis.
This is only one aspect of this surge in prices. Wait for a month or so and you’d see the real impact on the prices that Indian demand will have on Global Sugar Prices. That India is a major producer of Sugar is a know fact. Come August and the festive season begins in India which lasts till sometime in March. Almost every month, there would be a festival here in India going ahead. With Diwali being the biggest of them all. This time around Diwali would be in October (next month) and the demand for Sugar would be at its peak due to the sweetness of the festival. With lower than usual Monsoons and low yields in crops, the deficit in Sugar production in India, is already making commodity trading wolves smell blood, and the prices of the commodity rising. India will have to soon hit the markets to meets its Sugar Demand back home.
All those with a sweet tooth, one advise, reach out to your dentist and get those tooth changed. 😉

Interesting post. I’m glad you actually wrote something nice about us muslims… …I’ve been around the net for a pretty long time now, and the only thing I can read about muslims is bad things… getting pretty annoyed! I’ve also started to write a bit about Ramadan. I started out my own Ramadan blog over here: http://www.ramadanonline.com Oh, and whatever you do – don’t you dare stop blogging. You’re insane when it comes to writing!
